Letting Go of Who You Are

Letting go of who you are; Getting Rid of the Excess

When you let go of who you are,  you will become who God created you to be.”

1. "Letting go of who I am"  refers to releasing our self-constructed identity - the person we think we are based on our ego, fears, limiting beliefs, and societal conditioning. This includes our attachments to:

- Our carefully crafted self-image

- Our need for control

- Our fears and insecurities

- Worldly attachments that may limit our growth

“Letting go" doesn't mean losing yourself, but rather shedding layers that might be holding you back from your authentic self. Think of it like a sculptor removing excess marble to reveal the masterpiece within - the masterpiece was always there, but it needed the excess to be cleared away to be seen.

The metaphor of sculpting really captures this spiritual journey. Just as Michelangelo said he saw the angel in the marble and carved until he set it free, our spiritual transformation can be seen as a process of removing what's not essential to reveal the divine design of God, within us.
